Study Retreats

Introduction: Retreats organised by religious and spiritual groups have a long history. While not rejecting traditional ideas, IL’s Retreats do not follow any particular dogma. They are simply based on the idea that it often helps us to think productively if we remove ourselves from our everyday environment.
IL Retreats stimulate thought and contemplation not only about ourselves but also about our human and non-human environment. We need to balance a search for inner serenity with a passionate engagement with our unjust and misused world.
The venues for IL Retreats are chosen primarily for the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside, but also with an eye on convenience and economy. Previous Retreats were held at Laughton in East Sussex and at Hindhead Youth Hostel in the Devil’s Punchbowl, Surrey.
Next Study Retreat
We have plans to run a Study Retreat on the subject ‘Honesty is the Best Policy?’ but it now looks as if this will not happen until the New Year. If you are interested in the idea of these study retreats please get in touch with us.
